When I was approached by the Environmental Investigation Agency (EIA) to produce a short film about plastic pollution in the Pacific it sounded like an exciting project. For the 10th Pacific Island Conference organised by the Secretariat of the Pacific Regional Environment Program (SPREP), the EIA submitted this film as a Lightning story.
Plastic pollution in our oceans poses a severe threat to the integrity of the oceans and almost all parts of marine life. Big plastic pieces will eventually break down into microplastics that find their way into our food chain. An ambitious global convention is needed to address the issue and highlight solutions.
