The power of images
Photography has the power to create and carry emotions and to tell a story without saying a single word. Almost anyone can take photos today starting with a cell phone and ending with very expensive professional DSLRs. Usually, it’s not even about the quality that makes a photo beautiful and interesting – its the composition, the colors and of course the content.
Photos can make us laugh, make us cry, make us happy, make us angry or make us curios and some photos and especially the stories behind them might even inspire us in some way. I just love to run around with my camera and take photos – a never-ending journey! It’s not only about the final photo, but it’s also about the way you are getting there – the mosquito bites while waiting for the perfect light, the thoughts and plans invested in a project, the hours of marching with 15kg on your back and the satisfaction when looking at the result on your camera screen!
Filmmaking, on the other hand, is about creating moving images that will be displayed in a film. It is so much more than just pressing the video recorder button on your camera. It starts at the idea and the project development, the actual filming process and the postproduction. Filmmaking is a powerful tool in the art of storytelling and can dramatically impact the viewers.
